Description
The historic Waco Suspension Bridge, now a pedestrian and bicyclists' bridge across the Brazos River in Waco, Texas. For many years, cattle were driven across the suspension bridge in its early days, when it was covered with dirt. It is now lined with thousands of bricks. At at the time of its completion in 1870, it was the longest single-span suspension bridge west of the Mississippi River. The bridge was built with cable supplied by the John Roebling Co., who built the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City.
